More Teams Updates Announced

Microsoft Teams continues to gain many new features and capabilities each month. Teams is being positioned as the center of the employee “digital fabric” and the latest updates continue to enhance these capabilities. The March updates include the integration of Microsoft Search into Teams, support for Customer Lockbox to control company data during support efforts with Microsoft, automated webinar invites, updated calendar views for iOS and Android devices, Live Caption support for virtual desktops running on Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop. Administrators can now implement new roaming bandwidth controls, change the music on hold, and enable wireless casting to Microsoft Teams Room systems in conference rooms. Several other new hardware devices, industry-specific solutions, and third-party app experiences in Teams were also announced. Details on these announcements can be found here

Why This Matters

  • Zoom remains a large compete area for Microsoft and the recent updates to Teams continue to help Microsoft remain competitive and deliver capabilities that other platforms might be missing.
  • With many companies moving back to some in-person and office visits need to support those coming back while also remaining focused on safety. Tools like the new casting support allow touch-free experiences in using conference rooms.
  • An increasing number of third-party apps and industry specific solutions are rolling out to better address the ability to bring existing investments into Teams while also enabling Teams to be the main entry point to employee experiences.
