Microsoft 365 Announcements at Ignite

Microsoft 365 Announcements at Ignite

At the Ignite event, Microsoft announced many new features for Microsoft 365. Some of the announcements include a new Microsoft 365 app, Cisco meeting devices now Teams Room certified, a new Teams Premium licensing option with features like live translations for captions, integration between Teams and Meta’s Quest platform, hours and location support in Outlook letting people set their working location, a new Loop app, and a new Microsoft Designer app. Additionally, Microsoft Places was announced to help manage hybrid work, office space optimization, real estate investments, and support for integrating with other partner tools. Finally, Microsoft Syntex was announced as a new tool connecting content, services (processing, signature, etc.), and content management. Details on these and many other announcements can be found here.

Why This Matters:

  • Microsoft Places is a new app and service being introduced to help with the hybrid work experience. Places is designed to help drive a new employee experience, better connect people working remotely and in the office, and better manage the physical space.
  • Microsoft continues to expand the Teams capabilities. By adding Cisco into the Teams Room program, many additional video and room systems can now integrate into Teams.
  • New apps are coming into the Microsoft 365 experience expanding the core capabilities. These apps include Loop, Designer, and more.
  • This also represents the first major change in branding as Microsoft has started to move away from the Office brand name. The subscription apps will now be called Microsoft 365 Apps.
